Gunpoint Robbery Reported on Bala Avenue

Lower Merion police say a 69-year-old man was victimized.

A 69-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint Monday night in the vestibule of a Bala Avenue office building, according to Lower Merion officials.

About 7:40 p.m., township spokesman Tom Walsh said, police received a report that a man was struggling with an armed man at 29 Bala Ave.

Officers arrived to find the victim, who reported he was leaving his office when an armed masked man in a hooded sweatshirt confronted him.

"Give it up," the robber said, according to the victim, and after a struggle of several minutes, the victim surrendered cash, Walsh said. The robber fled the building.

The victim was not injured. It was not known how much cash was stolen.

Anyone with information about the robbery may call Lower Merion police at 610-649-1000.
