Homeowner Surprises Burglar in the Act

The homeowner was threatened by the burglar, police said.

A Merion homeowner on Tuesday discovered a knife-wielding burglar in his home.

Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, police said, the man heard suspicious noises in his Merbrook Avenue home, and went to investigate. He found the burglar, who was brandishing a knife, or possibly a screwdriver, and who threatened the homeowner with it.

The burglar fled, taking with him electronics and jewelry from the home, police said.

The burglar is described as a thin black male, who wore a hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lower Merion police at 610-649-1000.
