Man Allegedly Steals Laptop, Police Find Him Asleep
A man is arrested for public drunkenness and an alleged theft of a laptop.
Police found a man asleep in the grass on the side of the road near the 800 block of Montgomery Avenue allegedly in possession of a stolen laptop.
According to police, a woman who lives in an apartment complex nearby reported that her laptop had been stolen at 9:41 a.m. on Nov. 25, police said.
The woman claims that she went to bed at around 1 a.m. that morning, and when she woke up, she reported the laptop as stolen.
At around 5 a.m., the morning of Nov. 25, police received a report of a man asleep near the side of the road near Montgomery Ave.
When police tried to wake the man, he told them he was waiting for a cab. The man was also in possession of a laptop, police said.
Police took the man into custody for public intoxication, and when they received the report of a stolen laptop they checked the one in the possession of the man who had been asleep.
The laptop was confirmed as belonging to the woman, and surveillance footage from the apartment complex showed a man in the area matching the sleeping man's description.
