Man Steals 3 Pairs of Underwear, Is Caught Wearing Them

The theft occurred at Lord and Taylor on Nov. 21.

A man stole three pairs of boxers from Lord and Taylor on Nov. 21 by wearing them out of the store and was later apprehended while still wearing the underwear, Lower Merion police told news media on Monday.

At 7:58 p.m. on Nov. 21, Lower Merion police responded to a report of a disturbance at the Lord and Taylor in Bala Cynwyd.

When police arrived, Lord and Taylor representatives told them that store employees had observed a man enter a dressing room that evening with four pairs of Polo brand boxer shorts; he exited a short time later with only one pair of boxers, according to the report.  Store employees found tags from the other three pairs inside the dressing room.

Store security approached the man as he was exiting the store, at which point the man started a physical altercation with security, police said. Then another man joined the fight, police said, and the second man punched a security guard.

The two men then ran from the store, police said. The second man has not been identified.

The first man, however, was apprehended about a quarter-mile from Lord and Taylor, at 47th St. and Conshohocken Ave. He was still wearing the three pairs of boxers, police said.
