Two men were cited for public drunkenness after they flagged down a police car thinking it was a taxi.

The two men were in the 400 block of City Avenue on Dec. 1 at 1:25 a.m. when one of the men stepped out into City Avenue and flagged down a patrol car, police said.

The other man was laying on the sidewalk asleep, police said.

When the police pulled up in front of the two men, the one man asked the officers how he could help them.

Police said that eventually the man told them that he though they were a taxi, and that was why he tried to flag them down.

Police determined that the two men were a danger to themselves and other due to alcohol consumption and took them into custody.
