Man Ushers in New Year with a DUI

A man crashes into a concrete pillar in the early morning of Jan. 1.

A man with a .146 blood alcohol level hit a concrete pillar in the 700 block of Cedar Lane at 1 a.m. on Jan. 1, police said.

According to police, a 23-year-old male lost control of his vehicle after he left a party and crashed into a decorative pillar.

When police arrived on the scene the man had slurred speech, glassy eyes and the smell of alcohol on his person, police said.

Police conducted field sobriety test, which the man failed.  

Police took the man into custody and cited him with driving under the influence and several other related charges.
