police Sgt. Robert Yantorno on Wednesday reported two recent crimes to Patch:
Burglary: Sometime from July 13 to July 16, a burglar entered a home on the 200 block of Forrest Avenue, Yantorno said. A small hole had been cut in a rear window screen and the window, presumed locked, had been pried open.
Expensive jewelry had been left undisturbed while the burglar made off with a $28 replica necklace. Yantorno said it was the latest in a strange pattern, highlighted by a burglary earlier this year in which a culprit—perhaps unfamiliar with foreign currency—neglected an open envelope containing about 1,000 euros.
"These people are not taking anything of any value at all," the sergeant said.
Vehicle theft: Overnight from July 20 to July 21, a dark green 2006 Subaru Forester was stolen from the Montgomery County Apartments on the 200 block of Price Avenue, Yantorno said. Whether the vehicle had been locked is unknown.
