Penn Valley Home Burglarized, Police Say

Lower Merion police briefed media Monday morning.

The following incidents happened over the past week in the Narberth-Bala Cynwyd area, according to Lower Merion police:

Burglary: A woman’s Gucci watch worth $2,000 was stolen from an unlocked home on the 1300 block of North Woodbine Avenue in Penn Valley on Dec. 30, police said. A dogwalker had left the kitchen door unlocked and returned around 10:30 a.m. to see a white male with a large build fleeing the house; he left in a white vehicle, according to the report.

Drug possession: A 19-year-old Merion Station man was cited for disorderly conduct following a traffic accident about 3:35 p.m. Dec. 26 at North Wynnewood Avenue and East Wynnewood Road when pot was found in his car, police said. After the officer on duty had filled out the accident report, she went to speak with both drivers, and upon leaning into the man’s car, the officer smelled marijuana. The driver admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle, and officers retrieved a marijuana pipe and fresh marijuana. The man passed field sobriety tests, and was cited for stop sign violation related to the accident, along with disorderly conduct.

Attempted burglary: Sometime between 5:45 and 6:56 p.m. on Dec. 27, a plywood cover over a ground-level basement window was removed on the unit block of Overhill Road in Bala Cynwyd. The basement window, which had been unlocked, was also open. Nothing was taken, and it is unknown if entry was actually gained, police said.
