A Penn Valley resident this week was charged with breaking into his neighbor's car in the middle of the night after, Lower Merion police said.
About 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, a Braeburn Lane resident called police to say he had heard his car horn go off, then saw a man in the front seat of his car.
The man ran off, but a police dog brought to the scene tracked a scent to the 500 block of Gordon Avenue, where the Braeburn Lane resident identified a man sitting on his porch as the man who broke into his car, police said.
The 36-year-old resident is charged with theft from a motor vehicle, loitering and prowling at night, possessing an instrument of crime and public drunkenness. He was released from jail Friday on $2,500 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing Thursday, June 21.
