Police Blotter: $7,000 in Thefts from Regal Lighting in Bala Cynwyd

It says "Everything must go!" in the window of on Montgomery Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, but the owners of the departing business surely could have done without having more than $7,000 merchandise disappear.

At the Lower Merion Police Department weekly media briefing Monday afternoon, police said a $5,200 Italian gold chandelier and two gold Italian lanterns worth $1,100 apiece were stolen between July 13 and July 20.

The store was closed Monday and no employees could be reached for comment.

Other thefts reported by police Monday included:

  • A $7,000, 12-place silver setting was found stolen July 19 at a home on the 100 block of Presidential Boulevard.
  • A locked $800 bicycle and an unlocked $80 tandem bicycle were taken from a porch on the unit block of Bryn Mawr Avenue July 19 to July 20.
  • A couple stole four cell phones from the T-Mobile store about 3:30 p.m. July 21, then fled in an old red sedan. It was not known how they deactivated the security devices attached to the phones, police said.
