Police Blotter: Cologne Thief Flees Lord & Taylor Toward Saks, Escapes

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Lower Merion Police Department's weekly media briefing Monday afternoon included information about the following Bala Cynwyd and Penn Valley incidents from last week:

  • A man entered the men's department of about 6:10 p.m. Friday and placed a bottle of Ralph Lauren No. 1 cologne in a large CVS bag, then left the store. Security pursued the man toward but lost him before getting to the store. The suspect was an approximately 5-foot-9-inch black man with a shaved head, wearing a white T-shirt and cargo shorts, police said.
  • A home on the 200 block of Righters Mill Road in Penn Valley was ransacked between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday, police said. Someone apparently entered through the unlocked garage door and forced open the door from the garage into the house, then stole jewelry and watches while overturning several rooms.
  • James Watson, 23, of Philadelphia was charged with disorderly conduct about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at the Belmont Avenue after, police said, he urinated on the side of the building.
