Police Blotter: DUI Arrest in Bala Cynwyd Neighborhood; Chainsaw Stolen

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following Bala Cynwyd-area crimes and incidents from the past week:

  • Driving under the influence: Terrence Phillips, 24, of the 5700 block of Haddington Lane in Philadelphia was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol about 1:15 a.m. Aug. 13, after he was stopped at Bala and Bryn Mawr avenues in Bala Cynwyd, police said. Phillips’ blood alcohol content registered 0.172 in a breath test, police said.
  • Public intoxication: Phillips’ friend Kevin Brown, 25, of the 5600 block of Florence Avenue of Philadelphia was arrested for public intoxication after he came to the police station in Ardmore to pick up Phillips about 3 a.m. Aug. 13, police said.
  • Public intoxication: Michael Conklin, 24, of the 100 block of Wayland Road in Wilmington, DE, was arrested and cited for public intoxication about 1:25 a.m. Aug. 13 at City Avenue and Decker Boulevard in Bala Cynwyd.
  • Theft: Someone stole several cast-iron public sewer grates overnight Aug. 7-8 from the 100 block of Righters Mill Road in Penn Valley and the intersection of Mill Creek and Old Gulph roads in Gladwyne. The total loss to the township was about $900, police said.
  • Theft: A $100 chainsaw was taken from a Parks and Recreation department trailer Aug. 8 or Aug. 9 at .
  • Theft: An employee of  reported an iPhone stolen from a counter between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m. Aug. 12.
