Police Blotter: Penn Valley Burglars Steal Two Guns

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week:

  • Theft: Sometime Tuesday, a $250 blue Schwinn mountain bike was stolen from an unlocked shed behind a home on the first block of Academy Road in Bala Cynwyd.
  • Burglary: Sometime before 5 p.m. Tuesday, someone forced open a rear patio door of a home on the 1100 block of Centennial Road in Penn Valley, taking two guns as well as jewelry, televisions and computers.
  • Theft: About $3,000 in stone exterior veneer was stolen from the construction site of an assisted-living facility late Thursday or early Friday on the first block of Old Lancaster Road. The material was in 60 to 75 boxes of 80 pounds apiece. Someone also had attempted to pry into a storage shed, police said.
  • Burglary: A homeowner on the 300 block of Pembroke Road in Bala Cynwyd returned home Sunday from two weeks away to find a window pane broken out of a rear door. It is unknown what, if anything, is missing, police said.
  • Theft of services: Four people ran out on a $61.80 bill about 10:40 p.m. Sunday, leaving the parking lot in a blue Ford Crown Victoria.
  • Burglary: Three laptops and a camera were taken overnight Saturday into Sunday from a home on the 400 block of Hidden River Road in Penn Valley. A rear door had been left unlocked, police said.
