Police Blotter: Philly Teen Charged with Lord & Taylor Theft

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in the Narberth-Bala Cynwyd area:

Theft: A four- to five-foot section of steel train rail was stolen from Barmouth Station on the on May 18, police said. Someone walking along the trail reported to police that two men carried the rail to a gold-colored Cadillac and drove  away. 

Retail theft: After thefts at the King of Prussia Lord & Taylor, other area stores were alerted, police said. Security observed a man at the Bala Cynwyd at 6:30 p.m. May 19 who matched a description given remove 19 men’s Polo-brand knit shirts, valued at $1,600, and place them in a plastic shopping bag, police said. The man and an accomplice then abandoned the bag in the men’s department and security personnel pursued the men out of the store. Savon Jones, 18, from the 5200 block of North 15th Street in Philadelphia, was charged with retail theft, conspiracy and receiving stolen property, police said. A second man got away, police said.

Public drunkenness: An officer observed a woman get out of a car at the Belmont Avenue about 12:45 a.m. May 20 and urinate in the parking lot, police said. Veronica Carden, 20, of the 5500 block of Locust Street in Philadelphia, was charged with public drunkenness, underage drinking and disorderly conduct, police said.

Public drunkenness: William Fellman, 32, of Philadelphia, was stopped by police at 1:19 a.m. May 21 at the Belmont Avenue Wawa, police said, and was charged with public drunkenness.
