Police Blotter: Shoplifters Target Lord & Taylor in Bala Cynwyd

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week:

Retail theft: A police officer on duty noticed a man running through the  parking lot at about 10:40 a.m. Oct. 11. The officer recognized the man as a Lord & Taylor security officer and said he was chasing a woman who stole two gold bracelets and fled in a Red Jeep Liberty. The vehicle was stopped on Conshohocken State Road, and the woman was positively identified by the security officer as the woman who stole the bracelets. Stephanie McFadden, 20, of the 1300 block of Pennington Road in Philadelphia, was arrested and was charged with retail theft. McFadden had no prior arrests, police said. The total value of the bracelets was $68, police said. 

Public drunkenness: Police said a man was found sleeping outside the Conshohocken State Road at 4:08 a.m. Oct. 15. Christopher Conicella, 22, of the 300 block of Highland Lane in Bryn Mawr, was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, police said. Police said Conicella had a blood-alcohol content of .18.

Theft: Police said 13 bottles of liquor were stolen from a liquor store on the 100 block of City Avenue at 3:42 p.m. Oct. 15. The alcohol is valued at $240 total. Police arrested Milagros Diaz, 29, of the unit block of King Street in Pottstown and charged her with criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen goods, retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said store employees observed two women putting bottles of liquor in shoulder bags. One woman fled the store, but Diaz was found to have bottles in her bag, police said. Investigation is continuing into the other woman. Diaz’s bail was set at $3,000 unsecured, and she was released on her own recognizance.

Theft: Police said a theft was reported at at 3:29 p.m. Oct. 16. A customer set down a bag while shopping, and the bag went missing. A store security video shows a man taking a brown wallet out of the bag, which contained $30 cash and various forms of identification and credit cards. The man then put the purse on a shelf, police said. The man is described as a black male in his 40s, more than 6 feet tall, about 230 lbs. and bald, police said. He and another man were seen leaving in a black SUV, police said.
