Police Blotter: Thieves Hit Homes, Car, Department Store

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in the Narberth-Bala Cynwyd area:

Diamond ring stolen: Sometime between May 10 and May 13, a pair of antique diamond earrings and a diamond ring were stolen from an apartment at Fairmont Condominiums. There were no signs of forced entry, according to police. The incident was reported on May 23.

Laptop stolen from car: A salesperson was unloading merchandise at the  shop in Bala Cynwyd around 1:20 p.m. on May 24, and returned to his vehicle to find that his black laptop, estimated to be worth $2,500, was missing, police said.

Retail theft: On May 26 at 7:11 p.m., police received report of a theft in progress at in Bala Cynwyd. Two men grabbed several pairs of Michael Kors sunglasses, put them in a bag and tried to carry them out of the store, police said. The men exited the store and were followed by security. The men ran, and dropped the sunglasses, which were recovered by security. The sunglasses were estimated to be worth $911, police said.

Burglary: An iPad and gold jewelry were stolen from the first block of Old Lancaster Road between May 25 and 28 while the owners were on vacation, according to the police report. The owners returned to find the apartment door slightly ajar; it appears the burglar broke a window to get in, police said.
