Police Blotter: Three Days, Three Botched Retail Thefts Reported in Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Lower Merion police reported the following incidents to media Monday afternoon:

  • Retail theft: William Thomas Flynn, 19, of the 300 block of West Schoolhouse Lane in Philadelphia was arrested and charged with retail theft about 1:35 p.m. Tuesday at the Dress Barn in the Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center on City Avenue. Police said Flynn filled a bag with merchandise and left the store without paying. He was found with his bag in the shopping center's Great Clips, police said.
  • Retail theft: About 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lord & Taylor, police said, four black teenagers entered the Ralph Lauren Polo department, put some shirts in a bag and began running toward the exit onto City Avenue. They dropped the merchandise as security officers chased them and they escaped onto a departing SEPTA bus, police said.
  • Theft: Five planter pots and two 150-pound lawn ornaments were stolen Wednesday from outside a building on the 300 block of South Woodbine Avenue in Penn Valley.
  • Retail theft: Gabrielle Jordan, 19, of the 5600 block of Hazel Avenue in Philly was arrested and charged with retail theft about 6 p.m. Thursday at Lord & Taylor, police said. Jordan wrapped two $225 watches in aluminum foil, stuck them in the handbag and tried to leave without paying, police said. The alarm sounded and she was arrested.
