Police Blotter: Tools Stolen from Bala Cynwyd Church

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Narberth and Bala Cynwyd.

Burglary: A Craftsman hedge trimmer, worth $50, a Black & Decker hedge trimmer, worth $64 and two 50-foot extension cords, worth $20 total, were stolen from in Bala Cynwyd sometime overnight from Aug. 15 to Aug. 16, police said. The door to the lower sacristy was left ajar at 7:45 p.m. Aug. 15 for elderly parishioners to go into the church. The next morning, church staff noticed the missing items, police said.

Burglary: Sometime between about 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 14, police responded to the 300 block of Penbree Terrace in Bala Cynwyd on a report of alarm activation, police said. A rear door leading to the kitchen had been forced open, but entry to the residence was not gained, police said, and nothing was found to be missing.

Theft of services: Police responded to the area of Conshohocken State Road and Levering Mill Road about 2:55 a.m. Aug. 16, police said. A Liberty cab driver reported there had been two intoxicated males in his cab, police said, and the driver told them the fare would be $40. The men then exited the cab and ran from the location, the driver told police.

Burglary: Police responded to a home on the unit block of Old Lancaster Road in Bala Cynwyd on a report of a burglary that occurred sometime between 9 a.m. and 9:35 p.m. Aug. 17, police said. The house was lightly ransacked, and taken were a Nintendo Wii game system, an HP laptop computer, a gold women’s watch, a white gold ring band with braid design and about $50 in cash, police said, along with numerous bottles of alcohol. The total value of items taken was about $1,450, police said. Entry was gained to the residence through an unlocked living room window, police said.
