Purse, Laptop Stolen From Cars, Police Say

In one incident, a car window was smashed to gain access, police said.

At a Monday briefing, Lower Merion police relayed two incidents of thefts from vehicles in the Bala Cynwyd/Penn Valley area.

Laptop stolen: A Lenovo laptop worth $700 was stolen from a car in Penn Valley overnight on Feb. 19, police said. The complainant told police he was certain the laptop was in his vehicle when he arrived home on Feb. 19, and discovered it missing during the day on Feb. 20. The owner told police he may have neglected to lock the car overnight, according to the report.

Purse stolen: A Dooney and Burke purse worth $400 was stolen from a vehicle in the parking lot of the Cynwyd Club (332 Trevor Lane, Bala Cynwyd) on the evening of Feb. 23, police said. The vehicle’s owner left her purse in her locked car at 6 p.m. and returned at 8:30 p.m. to find her passenger side rear window smashed out and purse missing. A credit card was used at a Lukoil, according to the report; the investigation is ongoing.
