Serial Burglars Posing as Yard Workers, Lower Merion Police Say

Residents are warned to call 610-642-4200 if they see anything suspicious.

Several homes have been burglarized in the past few days in Bala Cynwyd, Penn Wynne, Wynnewood and Merion Station, and the burglars are suspected of soliciting yard work as a cover, said Wednesday.

In an email alert to residents, police said the burglaries (denoted in the map on the side of this article) have happened on Union Avenue, East Lodges Lane and Oxford Road in Bala Cynwyd, Rockglen Road and Arbordale Road in Penn Wynne, Red Leaf Road in Wynnewood and Sycamore Road in Merion Station, all between 7:15 a.m. and 7:45 p.m.

In each case, the burglars entered by force or through an unlocked window, taking jewelry and electronics.

Anyone with information about the burglaries so far should call the main non-emergency police line at 610-649-1000, while anyone seeing anything suspicious should immediately call 610-642-4200, police said.
