Two Arrested for Alleged Role in Random Attack

Police arrest two men who they believe randomly punched a 63-year-old Wynnewood man in the mouth.

Police have arrested two men who they believe attacked a 63-year-old Wynnewood man as he was walking his dog near Twin Oaks Drive and Rock Glen Drive on Oct. 29.

Police arrested 19-year-old Samuel Hayles and 19-year-old Marcus January both of the 1300 block of Kimberly Drive, Philadelphia, for their alleged roles in the incident.

According to police, the victim was standing near the intersection at 8:06 p.m. when he noticed a man run by him.  Just a few seconds later, the victim noticed a second man walking towards him.

Police officers were able to stop the two males matching the description provided by the victim and make an arrest.

The victim identified Hayles and January as the men who assaulted him, police said, and the victim told police that Hayles was the one who actually punched him.

A similar incident to this one occurred in September near Haverford Road and Surrey Lane where an elderly man was punched in the face while mowing his lawn.

Police are investigating whether or not the two incidents are related.  In both incidents, the victims suffered minor injuries and nothing was taken from them.
