Are Sidewalks to Penn Valley and Welsh Valley Schools Needed?

A group of residents is lobbying for the cause. Township officials have identified obstacles.

The Penn Valley Sidewalk Group has been for the installation of sidewalks along Hagys Ford Road, principally for the benefit of and students to walk to school.

Township officials such as Township Manager Doug Cleland and Ward 1 Commissioner Daniel Bernheim have cautioned supporters that because the cost of such a project could be at least in the high six figures and getting property owners to yield right-of-way is tricky, the project could be a long time coming, if at all.

The Penn Valley Civic Association is scheduled to meet at 7:30 tonight at Penn Valley Elementary School. Whether or not you plan to attend, please vote in our sidewalk poll below.
