Crane's Arrival Means No Trash Dropoffs Monday and Tuesday in Lower Merion

New scales are being installed at the transfer station.

Lower Merion's waste transfer station in Penn Valley closed for Monday and Tuesday, even to commercial haulers, as a crane arrived to help install new vehicle scales at the facility, the township announced Monday.

All haulers are being diverted to Plymouth Township's facility, said township spokeswoman Brenda Viola.

Commercial and government haulers have been able to drop off trash since scale-replacement work early this month, but residents have not had that access. Recycling and yard waste drop-offs have remained and will remain accessible, as will the mulch area.

The typical drop-off hours are 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturdays. The township has targeted Friday, April 29, as the end date for construction.
