Forecast Disrupts Schedule of Weekend Halloween Activities

Trick-or-treating is Monday night, but Narberth has events Saturday and Sunday, too.

The borough of Narberth, which went to some trouble to celebrate  when this month began, is sending October packing with a host of weekend Halloween activities. And the forecast of snow and rain is pushing one of those activities back a day. 

The Narberth Business Association has details:

On Saturday:

  • From 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at  is a puppet show for kids, "The Candy Witch". Tickets are $3 a person, $5 a family, and proceeds benefit the .
  • Anyone entering in costume after 6 p.m. gets a free drink and a chance to win dinner for two.

On Sunday:

  • Starting at noon, McShea's will have pumpkins that visitors can carve for free, for their display in Sunday night's Halloween costume parade.
  • (Postponed from Saturday) "The Witches of Narberth" is a free scavenger hunt for all ages. At 1 p.m. at Haverford and Forrest avenues, the hunt begins for 13 witches (and plenty of treats) hidden throughout downtown Narberth. It goes until 4 p.m. or until the prizes are gone. (Successful older kids get Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty; the younger set is eligible for plush ghosts. Both are pictured here.)
  • The parade begins at the parking lot at 6:15 p.m.; participants should meet there by 6 p.m. The parade heads down Narberth Avenue and along Haverford Avenue to end up at . All children get treats at the end.

On Monday:

  • Trick-or-treating will take place throughout Narberth and Lower Merion at night.

All six Lower Merion elementary schools have scheduled Halloween parades, too.

On Friday afternoon, starting at 2:15 or 2:30, will have its parade (as will Merion and Penn Wynne schools).

On Monday afternoon, at about the same times, and elementary schools will have parades (Gladwyne, too).
