Major Belmont Hills Road Closure Coming in November

Part of Jefferson Street will be shut down for up to three weeks. La Collina patrons will still have access.

Roadside demolition work will keep a stretch of Jefferson Street in Belmont Hills closed through much of November, the township announced Thursday.

An old set of township-owned stairs that lead downhill from Pencoyd Avenue to Jefferson, just above Old Belmont, are to be dismantled starting Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Crews will have Jefferson closed between Old Belmont and Ashland Avenue on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., for up to three weeks, according to the township.

That means drivers who would otherwise take the 0.2-mile stretch of Jefferson will need to take a detour of up to two miles, via Marywatersford Road, Conshohocken State Road, Rock Hill Road and Belmont Avenue, as pictured in the MapQuest image attached to this article.

Patrons of La Collina, located at the Ashland Avenue end of the affected section, will still be able to reach the Italian restaurant at all hours, according to the township.
