Montgomery County Declares Cold Weather 'Code Blue'

The weather conditions can threaten the safety of individuals with no shelter.

The Montgomery County Commissioners have declared a Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency for the county from Monday, Dec. 30 at 9 p.m. through Monday, Jan. 6 at 9 a.m., after a review of weather forecasts from the National Weather Service, and a recommendation from the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, according to a media release.

The county announces a Code Blue Cold Weather Declaration when cold weather conditions might threaten the life and health of those individuals who do not have shelter from the elements. The Code Blue is announced when the combined temperature of the air and wind chill are thought to be 20ºF or lower in the near future.
