Take a Look at Lower Merion's Proposed No-Tax-Hike 2012 Budget

Public hearings are set for Nov. 16 and Dec. 7.

posted the proposed 2012 township budget, which includes no tax-rate increase, on its website Friday night.

Administration officials and the Board of Commissioners' Democratic majority have said for months that a zero-tax-increase budget was a feasible goal. Republicans have criticized the majority's past budgeting approach and the township's current financial condition while alleging election-year motivation for the content of the 2012 proposal.

An unchanged sewer usage rate is also proposed.

Township residents will have two opportunities to comment on the budget at public hearings: Wednesday, Nov. 16 and Wednesday, Dec. 7, both at about 7 p.m. The scheduled date for budget adoption is Wednesday, Dec. 21.
