Weather Service Issues Excessive Heat Warning Through Wednesday

Residents are reminded to check on family and neighbors.

Summer's early appearance has prompted an excessive heat warning for the Delaware Valley through 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in Mt. Holly, NJ, issued the weather advisory Tuesday as 90-degree temperatures plagued the region following a balmy Memorial Day.

With a reach throughout southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the advisory warns that "hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely."

The service advises residents to:

  • Drink plenty of fluids;
  • Stay in an air-conditioned room;
  • Stay out of the sun; and
  • Check up on relatives and neighbors.

Heat indexes Tuesday and Wednesday will likely hover in the 90s, so afternoon activities should be limited.
