20 Lower Merion Students Qualify for District 11 Band

Students from both Lower Merion High Schools qualify for "All Star" band and orchestra.

The following is a press release from the Lower Merion School District.

The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) recently announced 20 Lower Merion School District musicians have been selected for the 2014 District 11 Band and Orchestra representing schools throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties.

The PMEA is an affiliate of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and its membership includes all levels of public, private, parochial, college and university, as well as retired music educators, administrators and music industry representatives from throughout the area.

Harriton Students that made the cut

Qualifying for the District 11 Band were sophomore clarinetist Dayita Sharma and junior Peri Leavitt on the French horn. The District 11 Orchestra welcomed a pair of juniors and a sophomore, violinists Elizabeth Morgan, Dan Liu and Emily Roby, along with a quartet of ninth graders – violinists Joyce Gu and Catherine Liu, cellist Sang-o Park and string bass player Odyssey Gabon.

Lower Merion Students that made the cut

Qualifying for the District 11 Band were juniors Tyler Spector (clarinet), Charlie Johnson (trombone) and senior Jeremy Katz (flute). The District 11 Orchestra welcomed seniors Zach Spector (bassoon) and Raymon Jiang (cello), along with four sophomores: Grant Wei (violin), Kyle Michie (violin), Justin Guo (cello), and John Della Franco (bass). Senior Larry Robinson (horn) was selected as a member of both the orchestra and band ensembles.
