Broken Branch Knocks Out Power to Belmont Hills Elementary School

More than 1,200 customers in Lower Merion lost electricity between 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. Monday.

A fallen tree branch knocked out power in Belmont Hills and surrounding neighborhoods for more than an hour Monday morning, a PECO spokesman said.

The branch dislodged wires on a Jefferson Street utility pole about 9:12 a.m., PECO spokesman Ben Armstrong told Patch.

The utility estimated 1,263 customers were affected. Of those, 341 lost power for only a minute, while 532 others (including ) had power restored at 9:52 a.m. Classes continued during the outage.

The rest had power restored about 10:30 a.m. after final repairs were made, as did the traffic light at Woodbine Avenue and Conshohocken State Road in Penn Valley.
