GlaxoSmithKline's Science in the Summer

Montgomery County Libraries Welcome
GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer: Elementary School Students to Discover the Wonders of Simple Machines

Montgomery County students entering second through sixth grade will attend GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer program, a free and fun experiment-oriented course taught by certified teachers to groups of 15 students in two age groups:  children entering second and third grades (Level I) and children entering fourth through sixth grades (Level II).  GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in partnership with The Franklin Institute and local libraries.

GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer program will teach Montgomery County students about Physics using six kinds of Simple Machines - lever, inclined plane, screw, wheel, pulley and gear. Students will build simple machines that help people to do work more easily, such as lift huge boulders, build bridges, pump water, etc.  Students will learn about motion, discovering that everything in the universe moves and why.
