Report: Fired LM Teacher Schanne Files Libel Suit
Robert Schanne is suing the former student he allegedly dated, several media outlets have reported.
According to an Associated Press report cited in several news outlets, including the Main Line Times, former Lower Merion teacher Robert Schanne, who was by the district in January for allegedly dating one-time student Jenna Addis, filed suit against Addis for libel in federal court Wednesday, saying he didn't date her until after she graduated.
Schanne, whose relationship with Addis spanned from 2004-2010, is reportedly seeking $75,000 in damages.
The Lower Merion Board of School Directors, though they didn't find evidence of criminal behavior on Schanne's part, voted unanimously to fire him Jan. 24 for having an "unacceptable" relationship with a student, district information director Doug Young said.

Schanne's lawyer, Timothy Kolman, told the Associated Press, Schanne may ponder a wrongful-firing lawsuit against Lower Merion School District.
Young told Patch the district has "no comment" on the matter.
