Locals All Finish Boston Marathon in Brutal Heat

Temperatures in the 80s forced nearly a fifth of the field to skip the race.

All four local Boston Marathon runners—two from Bala Cynwyd and one each from Narberth and Penn Valley—finished the prestigious race Monday, despite unseasonable and dangerous heat.

Temperatures reached the 80s in the Hub, prompting about 4,300 of 22,500 entrants to skip the 116th running of the 26.2-mile race, the Huffington Post reported.

Narberth resident Joe Frabizzio, 40, was the fastest local with a time of 4 hours, zero minutes and 59 seconds, according to the marathon's web site.
