Memorial Day Observances in Narberth, Belmont Hills and Beyond

Memorial Day events are taking place in Philadelphia, Lower Merion, Chester and Delaware counties and elsewhere. Plan your holiday here.

With events scheduled all across the Greater Philadelphia area, let this guide serve a way to plan your holiday.

Belmont Hills Memorial Services 

  • When: 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28
  • What: Memorial services are being held at the Belmont Hills Elementary school, with refreshments to follow after at the Belmont Hills Fire Company.

Narberth Memorial Day Parade

  • When: Starts at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28
  • What: Starting at Windsor and Conway Avenues, the parade will include four marching bands. The business district on Haverford Avenue is the main suggested viewing area. After the parade, there will be a memorial service at Windsor and Wynnewood Avenues at 11 a.m.

Haverford Memorial Day Ceremony

  • When: 11 a.m. on Monday, May 28
  • What: Haverford has planned a small ceremony at its police station in honor of the holiday.

Radnor Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

  • When: 9:45 a.m. on Monday, May 28
  • What: Starting at the Radnor Financial Center and ending at the war memorial on South Wayne Avenue, the Radnor Township parade will roll down Lancaster Avenue, concluding with a memorial ceremony featuring two retired Colonels and an appearance from the Poppi Queen.

  • When: 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28
  • What: Featuring state representative Bill Adolph, as well as bands from Marple Newtown High School and Paxton Hollow Middle School, the American Legion Marple Memorial Post 805 parade will kick off at Malin Road and West Chester Pike in Broomall.

Gladwyne Memorial Day Parade and Block Party

  • When: 12 a.m. on Monday, May 28.
  • What: Annually held in “the heart of the village,” children are invited to decorate bikes, wagons and strollers and walk in the Memorial Day parade. After the parade, there will be a ceremony to honor veterans, followed by food and entertainment.

  • When: 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28.
  • What: The parade will consist of veterans from Media's Veterans of Foreign Wars USA (VFW) Post 3460 and American Legion Post No. 93, as well as members from community groups such as Little League teams and Girl Scouts troops

  • When: 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28.
  • What: Starting at Veteran’s Memorial Park and finishing up at the Springfield Township administration building, the parade will include veterans, firemen, cub scouts and more.

Ardmore Memorial Day Parade

  • When: 9:45 a.m. on Monday, May 28
  • What: Starting off with a performance by the Merion Concert Band at Lancaster and Argyle Avenues, the parade will leave Greenfield Avenue at 10:30 a.m. and work its way to St .Paul’s Cemetery for an 11:15 a.m. memorial service. The parade will include Lower Merion volunteer fire companies, the Historical Car Club of PA and a variety of drill teams.

Historic Germantown Memorial Day Celebration

  • When: from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday, May 28.
  • What: in honor of Memorial Day, Historic Germantown will be having guided tours of the Concord School, the upper burying ground and Hood Cemetery. Refreshments will be provided.

  • When: 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 3
  • What: Thought by some to be “the oldest Memorial Day parade in America,” the Malvern Parade will include eight bands, color guards, military service vehicles, floats and fire trucks. The parade will follow King Street from the Malvern Fire Station to West Warren Avenue, Monument Avenue and ending at Memorial Park. The day also includes a 5K “Run Free” race, with proceeds going toward the Chester County Hero Fund, a farmers market, local student bands and field activities for families.

Roxborough Memorial Day Ceremonies

  • When: Monday, May 28
  • What: Roxborough will have four celebrations at four different locations:
    • Wissahickon Memorial at Rochelle Avenue at 10 a.m.
    • Korean Vietnam Memorial at the Hattal-Taylor VFW post 333 at 11:30 a.m.
    • Leverington Cemetery at Ridge and Lyceum Avenues at 12:!5 p.m.
    • Gorgas Park at 1 p.m.

Each service will feature a rifle salute and the playing of “Taps.”
