Fourth of July Guide for Narberth and Bala Cynwyd

We've got the local info you need to know for Wednesday's holiday.

What events are planned?

 

NARBERTH

Narberth's celebration includes facepainting, a baby parade, pony rides, a basketball toss, pie-eating contest, moonbounce and more. It begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 2:30 p.m. Drinks and food (hot dogs, funnel cake, pizza) will be sold. The festivities will be held at Narberth Field at 80 Windsor Avenue in Narberth.

10 a.m. Opening ceremony, Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem

10:15 a.m. Sign up for the Baby Parade (prizes for the Most Serious, Poster Baby, Most Cheerful, Poster Twins, Most Patriotic, Curliest Hair, and Most Interesting Family Group)

10:30 a.m. Diaper Derby, Baby Parade, Basketball Shooting Contest

11:45 a.m. Sports and races

1 p.m. Pie eating contest at the gazebo

1:30 p.m. The Grand March

7:30 p.m. The Zing Kings will play from 7:30 p.m. to dark at Narberth Field.

8:45 p.m. The National Anthem will be played and the flag award given.

9:30 p.m. Fireworks begin. 

 

BALA CYNWYD

The Neighborhood Club of Bala Cynwyd's Fourth of July celebration includes a parade, carnival games and more. 

8:45 a.m. Registration for the parade begins at the Union Fire House on Montgomery Ave.

9:30 a.m. Parade begins at Union Fire House and ends up at Bala Cynwyd Playground.The parade includes decorated bikes, costumed marchers, clowns, jugglers, floats, firetrucks, police and more.

At the playground: "Enjoy a patriotic program including music provided by Elaine Watts and the Summer Sounds Pop Band, salute the flag with Boy Scout Troop Bala One, and applaud our Citizen of the Year, Merchant of the Year and recipient of the Neighborhood Club’s Lifetime Achievement Award," the Neighborhood Club writes.

Also included in the day's festivities are:

  • Carnival games
  • Footraces
  • An egg toss
  • Pony rides
  • A petting zoo
  • Exotic animals
  • A moonbounce
  • A bungee run

Prizes will be awarded to patriotic parade participants, the winners of the footraces, and the house along the parade route with the best patriotic decorations.

The Union Fire Association will serve hot dogs and sodas.

Bracelets for unlimited games and rides can be purchased for $15 each, or two for $25, or one-time tickets can also be purchased.

 

What's open? What's closed?

Wawas and some grocery stores will be open, as will pools and gyms on different hourly schedules. Most government services, though, will be unavailable. For the full lists, click below:
