Viewfinder: Volunteers On The Trail

Local volunteers are cleaning up the Cynwyd Heritage Trail.

When completed, the will run from the Cynwyd Train Station on Bala Avenue where it will connect to the Schuylkill River and Manayunk trails.

The project is part of Lower Merion Township's plan to improve parks outdoor spaces, and recreational areas. While the construction work on the trail is being done by contractors many volunteers are contributing time to the project. The volunteer efforts are coordinated by the nonprofit Friends of the Cynwyd Heritage Trail

This week, I looked on some of the volunteers as they cleared ground adjacent to the trail. It was a hot evening and hard work, but the volunteer crew worked diligently clearing brush, pulling weeds, and cleaning up trash. Their effort is going to the good of the community, and I thought that they ought to get some recognition for their efforts.
