Woman's Club of Bala Cynwyd Recruits Blood Donors for Friday's Drive

The organization is trying to get at least 32 pints for the Red Cross.

A Bala Cynwyd nonprofit will spend six hours Friday collecting blood donations for the American Red Cross. Most appointment slots remain available.

The goal of the is to get 32 pints donated between 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. at its facility, 382 Bala Ave. The Red Cross estimates a typical donor gives about one pint.

By Tuesday evening, 14 donors had signed up, out of 72 available slots—three per 15 minutes, over six hours.

A Red Cross July 26 resulted in about 100 successful donations, organizers said, though it was unclear how much blood was collected.

In addition to collecting blood donations, the 50-member Woman's Club has been and make renovations to its headquarters, which is frequently rented out as a banquet hall.
