I hope you're not serious, sheilapa. I don't play golf or even follow it, but having the Open at…Read More Merion is a big deal for our area, and this was a wonderful moment. Turn that frown upside down.

Not quite everything. No cell phones are allowed at the Open. How are attendees to contact…Read More families/friends for rides home? I called a variety of offices and no one knew! After some checking I found out phones would be available on the premises. Pay phones, courtesy phones? No one knew! More delving. Answer: Courtesy phones.
Big push for public transportation. Ok, what times do the Rosemont shuttle buses run? No one knows! They "suppose", though don't know. How do folks taking public transportation let people know when to pick them up. Simple, call from the courtesy phone prior to getting on the shuttle bus. Not so simple. With the traffic generated by this event, the ten minute time estimation for the trip seems out so sync with reality. Missing a train will be a common occurrence. Phones at the shuttle bus stops at Rosemont? Again, nobody knows and it seems no on thought this through. This will be a nightmare if phone service is not supplied for those needing rides.
I wonder what else has fallen through the cracks.

This is such nonsense. How many thousands of running races, big and small, are held around the…Read More country every year where attendees have backpacks and nothing ever happens. Then there's one incident where a bomb was in a backpack and everyone hyper-reacts.

hopefully you're using the word "preference" in the sense of "sexual preference"…Read More not "choice..." watching basketball is a choice... being gay is not (unless the person in question is bisexual, in which case, they do have a choice)...
i too look forward to the day when this sort of thing doesn't bear announcing, but it was a very courageous move on Mr. Collins's part to be the FIRST current major sports star to go public, and he deserves a lot of praise for it...
i am also quite pleased to see that he is being strongly supported by the NBA and his fellow players... the evolution has begun! (and is being at least partially televised...)

Amen Mary. I think the growing number of women police officers, federal law enforcement officers,…Read More firefighters, Marines and Soldiers is adequate proof that the 'cement statue' image is finally going away. Here's the Marine Corps slant on women Marines: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/parris-island-leader-women-handle-combat-18744972
I played HS football and made it through Paris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot. I will tell you that the MCRD experience was a heck of a lot tougher than football. Women and men Marines have the same basic training. When they make it through the program they are tough. No doubt in my mind that women can play football.
