The 6-foot-8-inch linchpin of the Lower Merion Aces 2013 PIAA AAAA state championship team, and half-brother of former Philadelphia 76er Sam Dalembert, spurned Drexel, Niagara, Wagner, Memphis, Temple, and Villanova to join JMU, Philly.com is reporting. Dalembert averaged 11.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 4.1 blocks, according to the paper. Dalembert's Aces teammate, BJ Johnson, had previously accepted a basketball scholarship to Syracuse University, while 2012 Lower Merion graduate Darryl Reynolds agreed to play at Villanova last month.

A trial date for the Bryant's bizarre memorabilia dispute has been set for June.
A federal judge on Tuesday set a trial date for Kobe Bryant's escalating battle with his mother over $1.5 million of memorabilia she says he left at her Pennsylvania home, the Courier-Post is reporting. According to the paper, the Bryants will have what figures to be a tense family reunion on June 17 in a courtroom in Camden, where U.S. District Judge Renee Marie Bum will allow Kobe's California-based complaint to be transferred into her court. Pamela Bryant took a $450,000 advance to sell items her son left in her home years ago.
Kobe Bryant really wants mom to leave his stuff alone. ESPN.com is reporting that the NBA All-Star and Lower Merion grad has taken to the courts to stop mom Pamela Bryant from auctioning off a collection of items from his high school days and the early part of his pro career. Bryant had left the items in her home over five years ago. The property in question includes a game-worn jersey from Kobe's time as an Ace, signed balls, and his 1996 Pennsylvania state championship ring. Participants in the Broad Street Run are planning to show their support for the city of Boston. From the City of Brotherly Love, one popular way to show the love is apparently through one's socks. According to a recent Philly Mag blogger, and a Facebook group that has more than 1,000 members, many area sporting good stores are stocking up on red socks. Following the backpack bombings at the Boston Marathon two weeks ago, runners in this year's Broad Street Run in Philadelphia won't be able to tote their gear in a backpack, race organizers announced in a mass email to participants Monday.
