Healing Yoga Studio Opens In Bala Cynwyd

Katrin Elia Yoga focuses on yoga as a healing tool and offers 'pay as you go' pricing.

A new yoga studio focusing on the art of healing yoga opens Friday in Bala Cynwyd. Katrin Elia Yoga, located at 158 Montgomery Ave., will offer pay-as-you-go pricing and focus on yin yoga. “Yin yoga is the opposite of what you normally see in yoga studios,” owner Katrin Elia explained. “It’s a little more internal and meditative. You’re holding postures for much longer—three to five minutes—and healing is what we’ll focus on.” Elia, who has lived in Bala Cynwyd for 12 years, became a yoga instructor about five years ago. She has taught at yoga studios throughout the area, but decided that owning her own studio would allow her more freedom to explore the healing power of yoga. Family-Run Frozen Yogurt Shop Coming To Bala Cynwyd

Yosl's Frozen Yogurt will open in Bala Cynwyd this spring.

A family-owned frozen yogurt shop will be moving into the former Verizon store in Bala Cynwyd as soon as April. Yosl's Frozen Yogurt, at 137 Montgomery Ave. in Bala Cynwyd, will have 12 flavors of frozen yogurt and more than 50 toppings. "My wife grew up in Penn Valley and we have a lot of family that live in Bala Cynwyd ... we wanted to open the store in Bala and on Montgomery Ave," owner Mark Rubenstein explained in an email. Yosl's will be a family-run business—and its family focus starts with the name: the yogurt shop is named after Rubenstein's father, who passed away three years ago.
