Yosl's Frozen Yogurt will open in Bala Cynwyd this spring.
A family-owned frozen yogurt shop will be moving into the former Verizon store in Bala Cynwyd as soon as April. Yosl's Frozen Yogurt, at 137 Montgomery Ave. in Bala Cynwyd, will have 12 flavors of frozen yogurt and more than 50 toppings. "My wife grew up in Penn Valley and we have a lot of family that live in Bala Cynwyd ... we wanted to open the store in Bala and on Montgomery Ave," owner Mark Rubenstein explained in an email. Yosl's will be a family-run business—and its family focus starts with the name: the yogurt shop is named after Rubenstein's father, who passed away three years ago. By popular demand, the new Yogo Factory in Newtown Square is the region’s best frozen yogurt. We asked you for your opinions and the new Yogo Factory was the winner. “YoGo Factory - best yogurt, nicest store, not even close!” wrote Jennifer Roman. “The new store in edgmont Yogofactory is awesome. There are a number of different chains and independent stores vying to be the best. Which frozen yogurt place is best?
There’s no denying the presence of frozen yogurt shops in our area. More than 12 have opened in the last 18 months, two of which opened within the last week and at least five more have plans to go open locally in the next few months. We’ve talked about the frozen yogurt craze hitting our area, so the real question is, who has the best FroYo? Let us know in the comments. One positive comment will be one vote. More than a dozen frozen yogurt shops have opened in the last 18 months and six more are set to open soon.
Frozen yogurt is nothing new, but it is back in style and FroYo has been popping up all over our area in the last 18 months. FroYo is Big Business In 2011, revenue from frozen yogurt stores reached $1.6 billion, according to a report from IBISWorld. Since February 2011, at least 12 frozen yogurt shops have opened in Northwest Philadelphia and the western suburbs, and six more are slated to open in the coming months. Kiwi Yogurt, which opened as Sprinkles, appears to have been the first in the area with a store opening in West Chester in late 2009. Since then, Kiwi has grown into the biggest regional chain in our area with restaurants open in Haverford, and West Chester among many others and Wayne, Newtown Square, Malvern and Exton slated …
