The library may have a soft opening in late April, according to Director of Libraries Chris Steckel.
Bala Cynwyd Library will temporarily reduce its hours after reopening this spring, Director of Libraries Chris Steckel said at a Wednesday night Board of Commissioners meeting. A grand opening for Bala Cynwyd Library is set for May 19, and a soft opening in late April is possible, Steckel said. The library will suspend its Thursday evening and Sunday service, which will restart in September. From its reopening through September, the hours for Bala Library will be:

As a second major renovation draws to an end, other branches face different challenges, the library system's director told the Board of Commissioners.

Bryn Mawr's Ludington Library project remains behind schedule.
The Lower Merion Board of Commissioners Finance Committee postponed its vote on whether to recommend a contract for hiring an owner’s representative for the Bala Cynwyd Library Renovations Project, but the full board approved another contract to provide moving and storage services for the project. The Bala Library Renovation Project will add 6,000 square feet to the building, install a geothermal HVAC System, reorganize interior space for logic and efficiency, and replace old shelving and furnishings as needed. An ancillary project will upgrade the library's book and materials tracking system using Radio Frequency Identification.
