LMSD expansion is on the agenda.
Lower Merion School District's director of operations, Pat Guinnane, will join the Penn Valley Civic Association for its monthly meeting Thursday, the group announced. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the library of Penn Valley Elementary School. Guinnane will speak about the school district's plans for facility expansion. Also expected to attend is the township Board of Commissioners' Ward 1 representative, Dan Bernheim.

In three incidents, the homeowners were away on vacation.
Lower Merion police responded to three burglaries and two attempted burglaries in Bala Cynwyd, Penn Valley and Narberth within the past week, police said at a Monday briefing. Pry tools were used in several of the burglaries. In three incidents, the homeowners were away on vacation. Jewelry taken in Penn Valley: Several jewelry items were stolen from a home on the 300 block of Bobarn Drive in Penn Valley on March 20, police said. Homeowners reported the burglary at 10:19 p.m. when they returned home from dinner and found the front door unlocked, a rear kitchen window standing open and a suitcase on the counter, according to the report. Jeffrey Scher is also ordered to pay more than $250,000 restitution, according to the IRS.
A T-shirt company accountant on Tuesday was sentenced in federal court in Philadelphia to one year and one day in prison for filing false tax returns, the Internal Revenue Service announced. Penn Valley resident Jeffrey Scher was also ordered by U.S. District Court Judge Patrese Tucker to pay restitution in the amount of $254,818. From the IRS statement: Scher, a certified public accountant, was employed as the chief financial officer at Bodek and Rhodes, a Philadelphia-based T-shirt wholesaler. Scher received cash receipts from Bodek and Rhodes’ controller for deposit into Bodek and Rhodes’ bank account. Instead depositing all of the money into his employer’s bank account, Scher surreptitiously diverted cash receipts belonging to …

1. Narberth's Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at borough hall to hear from the prospective buyer and redeveloper of the United Methodist Church of Narberth property. Borough officials say the applicant's intent is to preserve but renovate the church and parsonage while also putting two homes between those buildings and Price Avenue. The borough council meets at 8 p.m. Monday. 2. PIAA District 1 basketball playoffs begin this weekend.
