Ardmore Man Wins Philadelphia Marathon

Ardmore resident and Bryn Mawr Running Club member Mike McKeeman won Sunday morning's Philadelphia Marathon, a race finished by more than 11,000 people, organizers reported. From the recap on the marathon website: In the men’s division, local favorite Mike McKeeman was the clear winner, outpacing the second place finisher, Scott MacPherson, by 42 seconds.  MacPherson took second in his first-ever marathon competition. McKeeman, with a winning time of 2:17:51, runs locally with Bryn Mawr Running Club, and does most of his training in Philadelphia. The 26.2-mile Philadelphia Marathon, which starts at 7 a.m. Sunday, will require many city streets to be closed during certain periods this weekend.

From the Editor: Who's Running the Philadelphia Marathon With Me?

The race starts at 7 a.m. Sunday.

The annual Philadelphia Marathon starts at 7 a.m. Sunday, and for the first time in five years I'll be running 26 miles, 385 yards. My (only) other marathon was in Louisville, a week before the 2006 Kentucky Derby. Who from Narberth, Bala Cynwyd, Belmont Hills or Penn Valley will be out there this Sunday, too, either for the full marathon or the half-marathon? And not to be creepy, but ... what are you wearing? Long sleeves or short? (The NWS forecast Saturday afternoon for the Philadelphia Museum of Art's ZIP code calls for an overnight low of 47 and a high of 65 on a partly sunny Sunday.)
