What Needs to Change in Narberth and Bala Cynwyd?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for your neighborhood, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a New Year's resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do in Narberth, Bala Cynwyd, Belmont Hills and Penn Valley to make them even better places to live?

A related question: What part of life here most needs to improve in 2013?

We all need to pay attention to street lights that are not working and report them to PECO and the township. It will keep our neighborhoods safer if they are well lit at night.

Where I used to live -- Alexandria VA -- the town had a giant Snuffaluffagus and each Fall, we'd rake the leaves to the curb and the Town would come along and vacuum them all up. How I wish LM had such a service.

for every store on Montomery avenue from the eye glass place to Albecht's there seems to be almost one store closed for every store that is opened. Not sure what the problem is but it needs to be corrected.

Much of Montgomery Ave needs a building transplant. No one will go there if there's no parking -- or even if there is parking but it's not very evident how to get to it.

We need better pedestrian infrastructure to access our local public facilities. We need access to our local public schools. I'm talking about the schools that are already there, within walking distance of our houses. We need to upgrade our walking infrastructure to be able to get to them, and we need to value and appreciate the public facilities we can already walk to.

I have never seen so many people NOT stop at stop signs than I continually do in Narberth. It's very unsafe for a lovely town that has many pedestrians
