Paoli-Thorndale Trains Resume After Tragedy on Tracks

Amtrak train kills man near Merion Station.

SEPTA resumed Paoli-Thorndale Line service in both directions Tuesday evening after suspensions of more than an hour, after a man was killed by a westbound Amtrak train at the Overbrook station, several media outlets reported.

Police said a middle-aged man fell on the tracks while trying to catch the train about 4 p.m., 6ABC and the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

SEPTA's Twitter feed reported westbound Paoli-Thorndale service was to resume from Suburban Station at 5:34, stopping first at Bryn Mawr. Eastbound service resumed just before 6 p.m. Delays of 20 to 30 minutes occurred, as did a later service interruption.
