Stay Clear of the Shoulder: Five Things You Should Know Tuesday in Narberth and Bala Cynwyd

There's a 50 percent chance of rain today, according to the National Weather Service.

  1. Schuylkill Expressway work will squeeze traffic through Lower Merion. Today through Friday, in both directions of the Schuylkill Expressway between Conshohocken and City Avenue, road crews are scheduled to restrict traffic in or near the right shoulders between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to a PennDOT bulletin. (Lane restrictions remain a possibility on all of Belmont Avenue, all week.)
  2. Give your two cents on Lower Merion commercial land use tonight. The Planning Commission is holding a public workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. at township headquarters.
  3. The forecast: Same high as Monday (roughly), even chance of rain, latest sunset of the year. The National Weather Service calls for a 50 percent chance of rain Tuesday, a high of 83 and a low of 66. If the weather holds up, though, stay outside as long as possible tonight: it's the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. Sunset is about 8:35 p.m.
  4. Rail service should be back to normal. A SEPTA train had a small about 7 p.m. Monday around the Overbrook station, causing delays of up to an hour, though service eventually caught up sometime after 10 p.m.
