Crime Stats: Belmont Hills Assault, Bala Cynwyd DUI

Calls to police increased week to week before Christmas.

Lower Merion police this week released police-activity statistics for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 23.

Police responded to 194 calls throughout Narberth, Bala Cynwyd, Belmont Hills and Penn Valley that week, up from 182 calls the week before, department records show.

The police calls (which do not necessarily indicate arrests were made or charges filed) include:

  • 5 animal incidents
  • 2 burglaries: Dec. 17 on the 200 block of St. Asaph's Road in Bala Cynwyd, and Dec. 18 on the first block of Monument Road in Bala Cynwyd
  • 3 domestic disputes
  • 1 DUI, Dec. 23 on the 100 block of Montgomery Avenue in Bala Cynwyd
  • 4 fires: Dec. 20 on the 300 block of Hidden River Road in Penn Valley, Dec. 21 on the 100 block of Bryn Mawr Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, Dec. 23 on the 100 block of Woodside Avenue in Narberth and on the 200 block of Righters Ferry Road in Bala Cynwyd
  • 3 car crashes with injuries
  • 14 car crashes with property damage
  • 1 citation for public intoxication, Dec. 22 in Penn Valley
  • 1 assault, Dec. 17 on the first block of Girard Avenue in Belmont Hills
  • 8 thefts
