Multiple Burglaries, Scattered Fires Occupy Lower Merion Police

Incidents decreased slightly week to week.

Lower Merion police responded to 253 calls last week throughout Narberth, Bala Cynwyd, Belmont Hills and Penn Valley, down from , department records show.

The police calls (which do not necessarily indicate arrests were made or charges filed) include:

  • 8 burglary calls, all in Penn Valley: one July 9 on the 1300 block of Woodbine Avenue, and the others overnight July 14-15 on the 400 block of Brookhurst Avenue
  • 1 DUI, early July 14 at Belmont Avenue and Old Belmont Avenue in Belmont Hills
  • 4 fires, including two appliance fires in Bala Cynwyd (July 10 on the 100 block of Presidential Boulevard and July 13 on the first block of Derwen Road) and two other fires on July 11 (the 100 block of Maple Avenue in Bala Cynwyd and the 200 block of Price Avenue in Narberth)
  • 11 car accidents with property damage
  • 5 thefts, all for more than $200, including two from retail locations and one from a vehicle
