Police Blotter: Burglaries, Thefts and Drug Charges in Bala Cynwyd

Lower Merion Township Police reported the following recent Bala Cynwyd and Penn Valley incidents at a media briefing Tuesday afternoon.

Theft: A $200 black and silver bicycle was stolen June 28 from an unlocked shed on the 100 block of Upland Terrace in Bala Cynwyd, police said.

Drug possession: Robert Joseph Rottensteiner Jr., 24, and his sister Julianna Rottensteiner, 21, both of the 3600 block of Providence Road in Newtown Square, were charged with drug possession about 2:30 p.m. June 28 in the parking lot of LA Fitness in Bala Cynwyd. Police said Robert Rottensteiner had overdosed and that heroin and hypodermic needles were found in the pair’s vehicle.  The elder Rottensteiner was treated and released from Lankenau Hospital before being charged.

Burglary: Between June 26 and June 29, someone kicked in the rear kitchen door of a home on the 500 block of Sprague Road in Penn Valley and stole two jewelry boxes.

Burglary: On July 2, a homeowner on the 400 block of Kent Road in Bala Cynwyd returned from a week’s vacation to find the front door forced open, the house ransacked and a laptop computer, a set of silver cutlery and a pair of diamond earrings missing, police said.

Retail theft: A juvenile was arrested about 2:50 p.m. July 3 at Saks Fifth Avenue after trying to steal two pairs of Prada sneakers worth a combined $775, police said.
